MAC Extra Dimensions Skinfinish in Superb Review

MAC released a new, permanent line of Extra Dimensions Skinfinishes and blushes! I love Mac’s original line of Skinfinishs, so when I saw they come out with new ones I just had to go get one! I got the Extra Dimensions Skinfinish in the shade Superb and have been using it for a few weeks now and this is how I feel about it.

Packaging:
These come in the standard MAC compact packaging but instead of the usual snap or magnetic closure, it has a push button open, which is so much easier to open. Also, unlike the curved shape of the original Skinfinishes, these are flat like the blushes so they're a lot easier to store. Overall, I love the simplicity of MAC packaging and greatly appreciate the clear window on the product.

Formula:
The powder isn't as creamy as I was expecting, however it is still very smooth and finely milled. It has a smoother feel than the original Mineralize Skinfinish line. I love that this doesn’t have chunky glitter particles so instead of just being shimmery, it gives off a beautiful, metallic sheen which almost looks wet on the skin. The product is decently pigmented and you can build it up to be an intense highlight. It literally lasts all day long and sits on the skin nicely throughout the day. You see the ingredient list in the picture below.

Colour:
Online I saw that they come in 7 shades but when I went into my local MAC store, they only had 3 shades. Thankfully they had the shade that I was the most interested in, which was Superb. In the pan it looks like a light metallic peachy nude shade, but on the cheekbone bone it honestly just looks like a metallic nude champagne colour. This particular shade isn't going to give you as intense of a highlight as the lighter shades in this collection. Instead of a bright, in-your-face highlight, since this colour matches my skin-tone, it gives off a beautiful glow, which almost looks as if it's apart of my skin. I usually like a blinding highlight, but I just fell in love with the sheen it gave. Whenever I see myself in the mirror with this highlighter on, I can't stop tilting my head back and forth and appreciating the glow.

This product looks amazing on my medium skin tone and would really suit those with darker skin tones as well. If you’re super pale, you might be able to use this as a blush/bronzer topper. I can also see this colour looking really pretty as an eyeshadow as well. The picture really don't do this highlighter justice, you have to go and see it for yourself in person.

Conclusion:

These are $38 and you get 9 grams of product, which is a gram less than the original Skinfinishes. From my experience, this product really does last a long time and the quality is amazing, so they're worth the price in my opinion.  I have always been impressed with MAC's Skinfinishes so I'm really pleased that they extended the collection. Thankfully these are permanent products because I really want to go pick up a few more!
