5 Days of Sheet Masks: My Experience

by - 12:00 AM

I don’t know if this just happens to me but whenever I have somewhere important to go, my skin is always at it’s worst. I had an event to attend in a few days and I spontaneously broke out. Sheet masks are known to bring instant results, so in desperation to improve my skin, I decided to use one sheet mask a day and here's what happened.

Day #1: The Face Shop Blueberry Sheet Mask
One of my friends who used to work at The Face Shop told me that the blueberry sheet mask was one of their bestselling masks and her personal favourite as well. So of course I just had to try it out. The results? Meh, for $2 a mask it’s not the worst sheet mask ever but I’ve defiantly used better. Other than adding some moisture, it didn’t really do much for my skin. The mask was slippery and too large for my face so wearing it was very uncomfortable. On top of that, the eyeholes were way too small for my eyes, so my eyes kept getting irritated. After finally taking it off, the essence left on my skin felt heavy and after a long time when it finally soaked in, it left my skin feeling sticky. So would I recommend this? This wasn’t the most moisturizing sheet mask ever and I personally had a difficult time wearing it so I wouldn't recommend this. Instead I'd recommend to check out The Face Shop's Acai Berry Sheet Mask (read my review here).
(*Note: Everyone has different skin types so what didn't work for me, might work for you and vice versa. These are just my first impressions.)

Day #2: Innisfree It's Real Green Tea Mask
Since I had some breakouts, this mask really appealed to me. Unlike the previous mask, this one fit my face and eye area really well. There was a very slight burning/tingling sensation after putting this mask on, but it went away quickly. The mask stuck on to my face pretty well and had a soothing scent. After removing the mask, my skin was extremely wet with essence, but it felt lightweight and soothing. After my skin completely soaked up the essence, my face didn’t feel sticky unlike with most other sheet masks. The redness on my skin dramatically decreased and I also noticed the breakouts on my skin shrink a little. My skin looked a lot better just from using this sheet mask so I would defiantly recommend this one and I would buy it again myself.

Day #3: Leaders Aloe Soothing Mask
It was already day 3 and I still had bumps on my face so I decided to use a slightly more expensive sheet mask. Leaders is a really hyped up brand for sheet masks and this was my first time trying one of theirs. This mask was extremely wet and drippy so it was a little bit messy to get on. It just barely fit my face, so it might be a bit small if you have a larger face. This one felt very soothing and refreshing so it'd be great for irritated and sensitive skin. It helped calm down the redness and bumps on my face and left my face feeling hydrated. It's very similar to the Innisfree Green Tea Mask except the fabric of this one is a lot better quality and this one didn't have the initial tingling sensation the Innisfree one did. For the difference in price, I would recommend the Innisfree one over this one.

Day #4: TonyMoly I'm Real Rice Sheet Mask
For day 4 I decided to use this mask because rice is know to be brightening and I had a few scars that I wanted to lighten. As soon as I put this mask on my face, I was hit with a strong scent and I personally don't like products I'm using on my face to have strong scents. Compared to the other sheet masks, this one wasn’t as wet and relaxing. My skin was looking pretty decent this night so I couldn’t observe any benefits other than moisturization. I heard amazing reviews of this mask so I will defiantly try it out again.

Day #5: Leaders Coconut Bio Mask with Orange
For the last sheet mask, I wanted to use something really good. Again I decided to use a Leader's mask. I love coconut and anything and everything that has or smells like coconut, so of course I was dying to use this mask. This mask was a lot different than the others; instead of a cotton sheet, it was a gel material and had 2 supports on it. Application of this mask was really easy and although it was a bit too large for my face because of the gel material, it stuck on my face really well. This one didn’t feel as wet as the others but I could feel it was intensely moisturizing. The serum of this one was a thicker gel consistency and felt the most hydrating out of all the previous ones. The wear of this mask was so comfortable that I wanted to wear it forever but of course after about 25 minutes I had to take it off. My skin drank up the essence quickly and there wasn't a sticky residue. Unlike with most sheet masks that just leave your skin feeling wet, my skin actually felt hydrated from within. My face looked and felt a lot smoother, and the bumps on my face got smaller too. This one is defiantly my favourite out of all the masks I’ve tried. Although it is expensive, I got the most noticeable results. I recommend everyone to try this line out. I'm defiantly going to repurchase and also try out the other masks they have in this Coconut Bio line.

Final Thoughts:
After using sheet masks continuously for 5 days, I defiantly saw changes in my skin. Before starting I had a few breakouts and scars but after these five days, the bumps on my face were almost gone and the scars faded tremendously. Overall, my skin looked A LOT healthier. After these 5 days, my skin continued to improve rapidly and a few days later, my skin almost completely clear again.

Would I do this again? I wish I could use a sheet mask everyday but that would be pretty expensive and time consuming. Instead I would stick to using a sheet mask once a week but I would absolutely do this again for special events.
