Mary Kay Baked Blushes First Impressions
Mary Kay is one of my favourite skincare brands but their makeup is usually a hit or miss for me. They have two limited edition baked blushes out right now that sell for $23 each and contain 6.5g of product. From each sale, $2 will be donated to the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation. This foundation helps women with cancer and victims of violence!
The packaging is both cute and sleek! They come in shiny black compacts that are lightweight and slim. Inside, the blush itself is shaped in a heart! I'm in love with the design! They don't have a mirror inside but that's not a problem for me. Most of Mary Kay's blushes come in refills so you can stick them into a Z-palette, but I prefer these compacts and I hope that they continue packaging their blushes like this.
The swatches online looked really pretty so I got both the shades. Giving Heart offers a pretty pink flush with fine shimmer. And Kind Heart, my favourite of the two, gives a peachy glow to the cheeks. They are both luminous but don't have large, obvious chunks of glitter. In the swatch below you can see that Kind Heart doesn't have as much colour payoff as Giving Heart, so depending on your skin-tone, you might be able to use this as a blush topper or as a highlight.
I was afraid that these would be dry and powdery because they're baked but I was surprised at how soft and silky the formula is! They offer a sheer wash of colour that can be built up. They blend very easily and add a beautiful luminosity to the cheeks.
I really wish these blushes weren't limited edition! I'm almost tempted to order back up of the shade Kind Heart because I adore it so much. These are an amazing value for the quality and amount of product you get! These have become one of my favourite blushes at the moment.
