Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks Review

Seeing how extremely affordable this brand is, I was very curious to see how their products perform. These lipsticks are only $3.49 (CAD), by far the most inexpensive ones I have ever seen! So I picked out a few to try without having much expectations. I've had them for a few months now and these are my thoughts on them.

Packaging:

The lipsticks come in a simple matte black plastic packaging and they're super lightweight. The caps have a bit of a lock to them so they won't open on their own, thus they're perfect to throw in your bag.
I love the colour indicator stripe on the lipstick. This makes finding shades so easy! They also have stickers on the bottom that match the colour of the lipstick. So these are very convenient to store.

Formula:

These are quite moisturizing and as a result are just a bit sheer. You can defiantly build up the colour but it won't be super opaque. I love this because I don't like a super bold lip. The lipsticks look and feel moist on the lips and they apply very smoothly. If you have dry patches on your lips, like most lipsticks, it will highlight that area, but nothing a little exfoliation can't fix. These wear very comfortably and feel super lightweight on the lips.

Unlike the name of the lipstick, I don't find these to be very long lasting. They last about 3-4 hours on me, maximum. The formula really reminds me of Tarte's Butter Lipsticks, which are some of my favourite lipstick formulas (too bad they don't have a lot of shades though).

It has a slight scent, but that's only if you directly try to smell the lipstick, on the lips it's undetectable.

Colours:

These come in a small range of colours. I was able to find a few shades that I liked, I Am Yours! being my favourite. I do wish they would expand the colour range though.

Conclusion:

I think these are the perfect everyday lipsticks! They are very wearable and comfortable on the lips. Great for those who have problems with dry lips. I reach for these on days where I'm trying to go for a natural look. Overall great lipsticks! Comparable to some of my more expensive lipsticks. I always keep one in my pocket!

Pros:

  • Cruelty free
  • Affordable
  • Moisturizing
  • Natural

Cons:

  • Not long lasting
  • Not intensely pigmented
