I'm back again with another The Face Shop review! Lately I have been trying out a lot of Korean skincare products and I wanted to share my thoughts on them!
The mango seed cleansing butter is a makeup remover that's meant to be used as a part of a double cleansing routine. To be honest, I'm quite lazy. I barely have the motivation to wash my face once, let alone to do a double cleanse. And you might be thinking, is there even a point in doing so? This product is meant to melt off your makeup so you have a clean base to work with when you do your usual nightly routine. It is a method to efficiently remove all traces of makeup, grime and oil from your skin so you get a deeper cleanse. This is extremely important if you wear makeup to prevent breakouts, thus it is a good idea to start incorporating this into your nightly routine!
The mango seed cleansing butter comes in a LARGE tub (200ml) so this will last you a long time! For only $10-$15 it's pretty inexpensive compared to other cleaning oils. A con to this product is the packaging, it seems unhygienic to me and nor does it not come with a spatula.
I've used this product quite a lot and as you can see, I'm barely close to finishing it! There is a mild scent, which I personally do not enjoy. However, all the reviews I read of this product said that they do like the scent. As expected, it smells like mangos. I really love mangos and the scent of them but this just doesn't smell authentic to me.
The texture is very thick and creamy. You don't need a lot of product for your face.
To demonstrate, I am using a gel eyeliner, eyeshadow, a thick concealer and a liquid eyeshadow. All of which are rather difficult to remove.
You just massage it directly onto your skin. I found that this works better on a dry face. The butter melts from the heat of your hands so it is easier to massage in.
Then, take a cotton pad, tissue or cloth to remove it. I personally like using a cotton pad to remove the product. I find it to be more effective using a cotton pad. But you can also just wash your face.
This is how my hand looks after I've cleaned off the product with a cotton pad. As you can see, it removed the makeup very well. Even the gel eyeliner, which is really hard to remove, even with makeup remover, has been completely cleansed off. My skin feels very soft and smooth after use. After I usually rinse my face and finish with my usual cleanser. If removed properly, it doesn't leave your skin feeling oily.
Note, this should not replace your cleanser, it's meant to be used as a part of a double cleansing routine. I have dry, sensitive skin and this product doesn't dry me out or irritate my skin at all. I find the scent to be a tad bit irritating for my eyes (note: my eyes are VERRYY sensitive), so I don't use this on my eyes.
Conclusion:
I like this product. It does it's job and it's inexpensive. It's not irritating nor does it strip the moisture out of your skin. Remember, this is not meant to replace a cleanser, it's basically a facial makeup remover. I enjoy using this when I'm wearing a lot of makeup and I want to make sure my face is cleansed properly. I haven't tried other cleansing oils so I can't compare it with others.Rating: 💜💜💜💜♡
Would I repurchase?: Probably not. This is a great product but I would like to experiment with other cleansing oils. As of right now, I really want to try Banila Co's Clean It Zero since it's so raved about in the Korean community.
